David Engelbretson August 2-22

David Engelbretson August 2-22

Beginning Saturday, August 2nd through August 22nd, David Englebretson will be the featured artist at the Redlands Art Association Gallery, 215 East State Street, Redlands. There will be a reception, with refreshments, on Saturday, August 9, from 5 – 7 PM.

“With tongue in cheek,” says Englebretson, “I’m calling my exhibit A RETROSPECTIVE.” A half dozen works from the 1970’s and pieces created in the last four years will be on the walls. In those in between years, he was making a living. For about 10 years he was Recreational Supervisor for Redlands. During that decade, he was the liaison for the city on the Redlands Council of the Arts.

For 25 years, he worked with Naturescape Environmental Design, constructing a wide variety of mostly residential features; including koi ponds, redwood fences, as well as brick, concrete and railroad tie walls and walkways. This three dimensional construction lead to Englebretson’s current interest in assemblage. A number of large wall hangings created from found objects will be featured at the RAA downtown gallery.

Englebretson graduated from Dartmouth College in 1968 with a BA degree in Art. During the 1970s, he taught graphic arts classes at San Bernardino Valley College, as well as through the Redlands Art Association’s Adult Arts Program.

You are invited to join the artist at the August 9th reception, from 5 – 7 PM.
