Last season, the respected and award-winning artist, Chick Curtis, presented a Program to the Redlands Art Association on his process and techniques of painting acrylic and oil landscapes of the Southwest. The standing room only crowd requested that Chick offer a full Saturday workshop to share his imaginative and creative approaches to painting. Graciously, Chick Curtis returns to spend a day in the life of RAA workshop artists. Chick is also well known for his amazing print making workshops and original monotype process artwork.

Curtis has won awards in exhibits that include: Riverside Art Museum members’ exhibit, Fine Arts Institute show , Dick Blick award , the Multi Mini Media show in Redlands, National Art Council show in Palm Springs, Plein Air Artists of Riverside Paint Out , Corona Art Association show, Inland Empire Art Association show, Fallbrook Art Center Open Show, Ontario Museum of Art and History Show.

Chick describes his art as follows, “Having entered the art-making world at mid-life, I have attempted a variety of media and styles at warp speed. Not so much because I want to make up for lost time, but because I find my desire to make art unquenchable. I have an intuitive child-like curiosity to explore, which compliments the maturity and skill I have developed as an adult. This gives me the freedom to explore many different styles and techniques. My wish is to interpret the world around me and all its many facets in a way that becomes part history, part beauty, part intrigue, and part joy. I am drawn with equal intensity to landscapes and people because of the spiritual quality of being in nature and to people because of the complexity of human nature.”

Workshop participants will learn the amazing tips and tricks that Chick uses to compose exciting and enduring landscapes. Participants are to bring either acrylic or oil paint supplies as well as canvas. The outcome of this workshop will be wonderful, original works of art with the fresh new perspectives of Chick Curtis’ instruction. Sign up early!
