Redlands Art Association hosts guest artists to educate / entertain us on the 4th Tuesday night of each month, September through May.  Public is welcome, no charge.

On January 24, 2023 from 7-9pm, Redlands Art Association presents, the textile artist, Nancy Bates, the founder and mompreneur of Nancy Bates Designs―and her National Park Inspired knitted beanies.

From her website, “Her designs bring oodles of color and texture to the small canvas of a beanie where every stitch counts and every design is a chance to learn something new.”

She has been knitting and crocheting for 45 years and is passionate about making knitting fun and attainable. Find her at nancybatesdesigns.com where she also sells knitting kits for her beanie designs.

Bates had an advantage for a beginner knitter–her parents owned a yarn store and she worked there during college. But life interrupted and knitting was put aside. 30 years later, a day trip to Joshua Tree National Park with the family made her think, “I could make a hat design look like a Joshua tree!” Another inspiration was using the Lion Brand Yarn that has skeins named after some National Parks. Now she uses yarn dyed by her daughter, Alyson.
