The Redlands Art Association has long been known for their outstanding children’s art programs. Following the inspiration and motivation of the beloved art educator, Margaret Clark, RAA has offered art classes for the children of Redlands and surrounding communities for more than forty years. Local artists and teachers first offered classes wherever space could be found, such as empty storefronts and classrooms.  Classes eventually moved to the gallery on State Street where they are still being offered on a regular basis.

Last year, at the request of numerous parents, we began an enhancement to that program that allows students to participate at two levels. Creative Journey Classes, based upon the design of the original program, are a variety of unique, “stand-alone” classes that provide art-making experiences often focusing on specific techniques, skills, or media. Our newAcademy Classes constitute a well-rounded, deeper approach to art education, by offering aseries of classes” taken over time that progress to advanced levels. Students participate in hands-on, guided experiences that introduce a variety of art disciplines(e.g., drawing, painting, and sculpture) and media. They explore artists and cultures as well as value art in nature, their own work, and the work of others. The hallmark of all RAA Youth Art Classes is the emphasis on individual creative accomplishment in a relaxed and fun environment!

A special thank you goes out to all of the RAA teachers, artists, and members who have contributed over the years to the long tradition of providing quality art education to the children of our community!
