Margaret Clark Art Programs

“Art is not just for artists,”  Margaret Clark once said.  “Success in art gives a child greater self-esteem.  Then he or she can learn better.”

Margaret Davis Clark came to Redlands in 1947 and for 50 years influenced the present and future of art and culture in the San Bernardino Valley. A professor at the University of Redlands for 26 years, she taught elementary teacher candidates, infusing them with a passion for using art to teach and reach their students.

In 1964, she cofounded the Redlands Art Association, establishing yet another avenue to promote visual arts with art classes for children. Named in her honor, the Margaret Clark Art Education Enrichment Fund (MCAEEF) carries on her legacy of devotion to bringing art to the Redlands community. These pivotal art programs for children are financed by your generous donations and ticket proceeds from the Redlands Cinema Classic movie series.
