Noted sculptor and ceramic artist, Raul Acero, will be the guest artist, at the Redlands Art Association Gallery. Raul says, “I am drawn to ancient art and often to the figure, which I abstract and interpret to my own expression. I see the purposes in my work as having to do with the central mysteries of life, love, death, and the unknown, inexplicable world of the spirit.”
Raul was born in Begota, Colombia, but grew up in New York City. He has an MFA from Ohio University and has taught and developed ceramic programs at several colleges and universities. Currently, he is a Professor at the University of Redlands. His work has been exhibited extensively in the U.S. and Puerto Rico, and is in many private collections and permanent collections, including The Studio Museum in Harlem and the Asheville Museum of Art..
