RAA’s Amanda Kinsey is writing with fire
Redlands Art Association hosts PROGRAMS: guest artists to educate / entertain us on the 4th Tuesday night of each month, September through May.
Pyrographic artist Amanda Kinsey will talk about her techniques at the Program on Tuesday, November 28 at 7pm.
What is the meaning of pyrography? writing with fire
The term means “writing with fire”, from the Greek pyr (fire) and graphos (writing). In the past, craftsmen used a metal tool heated in a fire but now they use specialized modern pyrography tools.
The term “woodburning” is often used as a synonym for the art, as wood is the most common medium used. Artists have used clay, leather, and even gourds as surfaces on which to draw their designs.
Kinsey will explain the art and bring examples to show.
The program will be held at the downtown Redlands Art Association, 215 E. State St, Redlands, Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2023 at 7pm.
