Teri Adams 3/21–4/17/26

Opening reception:  Saturday March 28, 1–4 pm

Redlands artist Teri Adams is known for her suggestive abstract watermedia paintings that are heavily influenced by the natural landscape and architecture.

Teri uses watercolor crayons, acrylic paint, inks and collage to communicate in her work. Her abstract landscapes generally refer to historical buildings of the Inland Empire and landscapes from her travels. Her completely abstract works are her responses to shapes, colors and textures that appear on the work while she is painting.

Early painting explorations began after completing college with a degree in Graphic Design. She began studying watercolor with Rex Brandt and Robert E. Wood and later with Christopher Schink and Katherine Chang Liu.

As her work developed, she quickly learned that she wasn’t interested in painting what she saw
but wanted to represent nature in a more abstract manner and go beyond reporting what she
saw. She did not want to dictate a particular response from the viewer. Blurred lines between objective and subjective imagery coexist within her work, with shapes and colors that suggest,
rather than impose a certain response from the viewer.

Her paintings have been featured in The Palette magazine and are in the collection of Marriott
Hotels and several southern California collections.
